Welcome to another edition of Photo Friday! Our destination this week is the Thai capital, Krung Thep or as its more commonly known, Bangkok. The first stop of the Asian leg of our trip.
Bangkok is a sprawling metropolis, home to over 8 million people and known for its Wats and palaces, bustling nightlife and shopping. We spent a week in Bangkok and here are our top picks from our time there.
This is a beautifully decorated ‘chedi’ or stupa from Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn). Luckily for us this wasn’t covered in scaffolding, unlike the central prang, or tower.
This enormous statue is the famous reclining Buddha from Wat Pho (Temple of the Reclining Buddha). The statue is 15m high and 46m long!
After the hustle and bustle of the busy city streets, the fresh, open air of Lumpini park (Bangkok’s answer to Central Park) is very refreshing.
Look at these fish being cooked over grills on little boats, tied up alongside the pontoons at the Taling Chan floating market.
No collection of Bangkok photos would be complete without the most visited tourist attraction in the city, The Grand Palace, so here it is in all its glory! This is the official residence of the King of Thailand, although it is only used for ceremonial purposes.

We were really saddened to hear about the events that happened on Friday, but they were down in the South while we’re in the North. I hope you make it home really soon. We’re looking forward to heading to the Philippines in the coming months!

We didn’t go to Khlong Lat Mayom Market, but they’re very close to each other and similar from what I can gather. Lumpini Park is lovely just to get away from all the hustle and bustle.

Ahhhh I only had 3 hours in Bangkok due to a layover so my only experience there was the W Hotel (not complaining) but wish I saw local culture and explored everything you did here. Thank you for sharing and can’t wait to see your next link up post!
